Where we work

We work in seven countries worldwide and across six climate priorities: forests, carbon, water, post-conflict, Indigenous governance and women/ youth led projects.
Brazil
Guardians Worldwide has been working for over 10 years in Brazil, with our co-director Tawana Fulkaxo. We support Reserva Indigena Fulkaxo, an Indigenous protected area, covering 550 hectares of highly endangered Atlantic Rainforest. We work with two Brazilian lawyers in Manaus who specialise in Indigenous rights and forest governance, Lucifer Prata and Debora Lacerda.

Chile
GWW has been working since 2019 with the Meliñir family, pioneers of Indigenous forest and land conservation in Chile, and guardians of the Chilean Araucaria or pehuen (monkey puzzle). Comunidad Quinquen are guardians of 7,000 hectares of native forest in the Lonquimay area of Southern Chile. GWW founder and director is Chilean environmentalist Nicolas Salazar Sutil

GWW has been working since 2020 with land defenders Leonard Mindore and Joseph Towett, leaders of Ogiek land rights movement in Mau Forest, and members of the board of GWW. We have also been working with Josephine Konga, Indigenous women leader of the Endorois community of Lake Bogoria.
Kenya

Nigeria
GWW was first registered in Nigeria by our co-founder, the lawyer Kamilu Hassan Hamza. We have been working across various communities and environmental priorities. Currently, we are developing the Northern Nigerian States Carbon Intitiave, a carbon project piloted in partnership with Nasarawa State Governor, encompassing 700,000 hectares of Sub-tropical and Savannah forests

Portugal
GWW has been working since 2024 in Penamacor, Beira Baixa (Portugal). GWW owns a 2 hectare native semi-deciduous forest, and along with local guardians Fernando Salgueiro and Antonio Cabanas, we have established an alliance of 400 hectares of land for biological regeneration and project development in the Serra Malcata Reserve, one of Portugal's most important biodiversity hotspots.

Since 2025, GWW has partnered with UA Consulting, based in Lviv (Ukraine) to develop consulting services for environmental consulting services in Ukraine, covering the areas of forest management, carbon project development, climate solutions, environmental risk management, water management, capacity building and stakeholder mapping.
