Jurassic Journeys: winter walk in Ericeira

We are organising a winter walk along the Assenta Member, part of Lourinha Formation near Ericeira, to observe remains of the Jurassic world

Did you know that dinosaur bones are the most sacred medicine or lawén of the Pewenche people of so-called Chile?

 
As part of the Extinction and Recovery online course, we are organising a free guided walk of the Jurassic coastline near Ericeira with Guardians Worldwide Portugal. We will see fossilised trees, fossilised burned wood, fossil eggs, dinosaur bones and dinosaur footprints. The site, known as Lourinha Formation, is part of Geoparque Oeste, a UNESCO Global Geopark territory.

Meeting Place: Calada Beach Surf Club

Duration of tour: 3 hours + lunch at the beach club (each participants pays for their own lunch if they wish to stay for lunch)

Cost: free (very limited availability so book early to avoid missing out)

 

What you need: warm clothes, good walking shoes

 

Unfortunately, this event is unsuitable for people with mobility restrictions. The event is led by GWW Director Dr Nicolas Salazar Sutil
