Forest Restoration Volunteering
Regenerate the Earth — One Forest at a Time
Across continents and climates, Guardians Worldwide invites you to take part in hands-on forest restoration projects that heal ecosystems, empower communities, and protect our planet’s future. Whether you join us under the canopy of the Amazon, in the misty valleys of Chile, the sunlit hills of Portugal, or the green heart of Wales, you’ll help regenerate nature where it’s needed most.
Our Projects
Brazil: Restoring the Atlantic Rainforest
In the vibrant landscapes of Brazil, volunteers work alongside local conservationists to replant native trees in the endangered Mata Atlântica — one of the most biodiverse yet threatened ecosystems on Earth. Activities include seed collection, nursery work, and community-led reforestation that supports wildlife corridors and sustainable livelihoods.
Chile: Rewilding the Southern Andes
Experience the awe of Patagonia and central Chile while contributing to large-scale reforestation and habitat recovery efforts. You’ll help restore native species like lenga and coigüe, monitor rewilded areas, and support educational outreach with local schools and land stewards. These projects are vital in building resilience against wildfires and climate change.
Kenya: Helping regenerate Kenya's montane rainforest
Help local Indigenous communities in Nakuru County, in the heart of the Kenya Rift Valley, restore Mau Forest. You will work wit local land defenders in the protection of community forestry and traditional bee-hives, while helping local councils with everyday governance and community building activities.
Portugal: Healing Fire-Scarred Landscapes
Portugal’s reforestation initiatives focus on recovering native forests after years of severe wildfires. Volunteers plant cork oak, chestnut, and other indigenous species that stabilize soils, reduce erosion, and restore biodiversity. You’ll work with rewilding teams and smallholder farmers to build a sustainable balance between forest and community life.
Wales: Growing the Celtic Rainforest
In the lush valleys and coastal woodlands of Wales, join us in reviving ancient Atlantic temperate rainforests — some of Europe’s rarest habitats. Volunteers help plant native oaks, rowans, and hazels, remove invasive species, and monitor wildlife return. This project combines ecological restoration with local heritage and environmental education.

Volunteers are asked to join one of our courses before going on a placement. We we would like to warmly invite you to Guardians Worldwide's Extinction and Recovery: 5-week online course on climate change and deep time.
